The early years – Favorite Mfg. company
Zeiset Equipment has been providing solutions to the agricultural industry for more than 35 years. Founded in 1988 by Marvin Zeiset, Zeiset Equipment has been continuing a legacy in the poultry industry started by Marvin’s great-grandfather, dating back to the late 1800s. His great-grandfather was the first person in Juniata County, PA to hatch eggs with a homemade incubator. Marvin’s grandfather then saw a need for an improved poultry nest, and in 1952, he made and patented a colony style nest, which was known as The Favorite Nest. Favorite Manufacturing Company continued to expand their line of products, such as a roll-away nest and poultry cage systems. By the late 1970’s, Favorite Manufacturing Company was a major supplier of poultry equipment nationally and internationally.
Marvin began with Favorite Manufacturing in 1975, and by 1979 he was working in their research and development department. Because of this, he was able to gain valuable first hand experience in meeting the needs of the poultry industry. Marvin worked for Favorite until they decided to sell the company to Big Dutchman in 1982, and from there he went to work for a local equipment distributor as a service technician.
Zeiset Equipment – the beginning
In 1988, after several years of working as a poultry equipment service technician, Marvin decided to start his own venture that would provide equipment service and repairs for the local poultry producers – and from that, Zeiset Equipment was born. With God’s blessing, Zeiset Equipment has grown from a small one man operation to 3 locations and nearly 60 employees. Today, we offer many solutions and products to the agricultural industry, and are licensed dealers for equipment suppliers such as Val-Co, Big Dutchman, LB White, VDL Jansen, SDI, and Double L Group.
2020 Expansion – Beaver Springs
The years passed and Zeiset Equipment continued to grow. By 2018, it became apparent that we had outgrown our facilities in Manheim PA. Rather than build on to the existing facility, it was decided to look for another location in which we could continue to serve the ag industry, and further diversify our operations. Enter central Pennsylvania. In the spring of 2019, a tentative merger agreement was reached with Central Penn Ag Services, a local poultry equipment company with similar values and goals as Zeiset Equipment. A property was purchased along Route 522 in Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania, and thus, a second location was born. In October 2020, Zeiset Equipment Beaver Springs officially opened its doors for business. Apart from being a dealer for poultry, swine, and dairy equipment, Beaver Springs also offers a full line of hardware supplies. Our Beaver Springs location also puts on several events for the community and our customers including Customer Appreciation Days every March, a Father’s Day event in June, as well as an anniversary sale every October.
2020 Expansion – Moorefield WV
Also in 2020, while we were in the middle of preparations for the opening of Beaver Springs, integrators again approached us about another possible expansion, this time in the Virginia/West Virginia area. It was a heavy decision, especially with everything going on inside of the company. After more prayer and consideration, a decision was made to open a location in Moorefield, West Virginia. On December 15th 2020, Moorefield officially opened it’s doors for business, and another location was born.
As we continue to expand our facilities and grow our product line, we desire to offer quality products with courteous service and knowledgeable advice. It is our goal that each customer is treated fairly and respectfully and we look forward to serving each one in the days and years to come.
